This is a tribute to a true friend, whom I had the honor and privilege, to have known; and who became family to my wife and our children; and how much his family meant to us.  Our friendship began when some friends I know asked me if I would like to take up sport parachuting or “sky diving” as it is known.  They told me if I went to Lake Elisnore they have a “skydiving” school there and that I could be trained and make a parachute jump.  There my jumpmaster and instructor was Dick Dunphy.  This began a long and terrific adventure and friendship.  Which was also an introduction to many other sports such as dune buggys and camping in which Dick was always willing and ready to teach and do things for my kids.  He was so talented and willing to help that it became the start of one terrific and lasting merging of our families.  Dick was a fantastic and caring friend to everyone he met and was always ready and willing to help kids learn and actually end up repairing and doing the job themselves under his supervision.  He, along with his terrific wife Fran were a caring support group for disabled kids.  Their life was always dedicated to this end.  Their kids Mary K and Christy were two of the sweetest and loving kids my wife and I had the pleasure to know.  It would take a book or even two to fully write about all of our lives and the times we shared.  I’ll always remember how Dick and Fran’s lives were and are dedicated to helping kids, especially disabled to a better life.

With appreciation and love forever:
Raul and Elizabeth Martinez and our kids Mike, Dan and Lyn Marie.
